What to see in Salou?

Unique natural landscapes

Although when we think of the Costa Dorada we associate it with sun and beaches, we must not forget that it is also a privileged area where you can find exuberant wild nature. It is a paradise for lovers of outdoor sports, and where it is also possible to go on excursions to discover wetlands, mountain bike routes or hiking along long or short routes. It has attractive places such as the Paratge Natural d'Interès Nacional de Poblet (included in the Plan de Espais d'Interès Natural), the forests of the mountains of Prades or the Parc Natural de Montsant, with almost 20 km of the Montsant mountain range and the mountain of La Pau which, since the 12th century, has housed the Carthusian monastery of Escaladei, the first Carthusian monastery on the Iberian Peninsula, at its feet. It is also a good idea to take a stroll under the holm oak groves of Tossal Gros de Miramar or the poplars of Santes Creus, experiences that will connect you with this unique environment and really envoke something special within you.

Promenade and its modernist houses

The Paseo Marítimo Jaume I is a charming place and a must if you visit Salou. It is 2 km long, lined with palm trees, restaurants, playgrounds and fountains. Without a doubt, it is the meeting point for locals and tourists who stroll along it, whether on foot or by bicycle. Presiding over the promenade is the majestic statue of King James I, who set out from these shores with 16,000 men to conquer Mallorca. In addition, at the height of the Port we find a series of historic houses in the Modernist style, among which the Chalet Bonet stands out, built in 1918 by the architect Domènech Sugranyes, a disciple of Gaudí. The wrought-iron gates, the gardens, the vivid colours of its iconic trencadís and the composition of the tiling, which is undoubtedly reminiscent of Barcelona's Parc Güell, are striking.

Costa Dorada

Located in the southern part of Catalonia, specifically in the province of Tarragona, it is an area that stands out for its beautiful beaches. In fact, it is known as such because of the golden colour of the sand when the sun hits it.

The Costa Dorada perfectly combines sea and mountains, tranquillity and adrenaline, culture and traditions... to discover it is to travel through the best gastronomy, with wines that have some of the most appreciated Designations of Origin in Catalonia, and of course in a unique environment.
